A Pair of Sèvres Porcelain Liquer Decanter Coolers given by Louis XV to the King of Denmark in 1768, 1767
This pair of seaux à topette are decorated with a bleu lapis caillouté ground and large flower panels in reserves with leafy gilt edges. In November 1768 King Louis XV of France presented the dessert service, from which these come, to the 19 year-old King Christian VII of Denmark on the occasion of his visit to France. There were just these two of this shape and size in the service and they cost 120 livres each.
Factory marks in blue; date-letter O for 1767; painter's marks for Claude Couturier and Pierre Freta.
