12 Sèvres Plates from the Vandernyver Service, 1792

Twelve soft-paste Sèvres porcelain plates (assiettes) mostly with the date letters pp for 1792 and the painters marks of Sophie Binet, Henry-Germain Boileau, Guillaume Noël, Jean-Baptiste Tandart, Guillaume-Charles-Alexandre Buteux, Cyprien-Julien Hyrel de Choisy, Marie-Anne Gérard, Michel-Gabriel Commelin and Pierre-Jean-Baptiste Vandé.

They come from a Sèvres dinner service sold to the Dutch banker Jean-Baptiste Vandernyver on 29th November 1792.  The service originally contained 92 plates and much of it was sold at Christie’s in London in 1897.  There are pieces from this service in the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg.
