A Pair of Biscuit Porcelain Groups – The Grape Eaters & The Flute Lesson, 1760’s

These un-glazed ‘biscuit’ porcelain groups were made from 1752 at the Vincennes factory after designs by the painter François Boucher. They illustrate scenes from Favart’s comic opera La Vallée de Montmorency.

The Grape Eaters was exhibited in The Wallace Collection, London, exhibition François Boucher, Seductive Visions in 2004.
