A Pair of Sèvres Porcelain Bulb Vases, 1760

These vases Hollandois nouveaux have the date letter G for 1760 and the painter’s mark for J.-B. Tandart. At the end of that year a pair of vases of this description worth 108 livres each was presented by the Sèvres porcelain manufactory to a Monsieur Dinant ‘chef des cuisines‘ in Louis XV’s household. That these are his vases is established as we purchased these along with a cuvette Courteille with the date marks for 1761 and in the Sèvres archives we can see that M. Dinant was presented with just such a vase in 1761.
