A Pair of Sèvres Porcelain Plates, 1768

This pair of assiette à palmes have a bleu céleste ground. The border has three reserves of flowers with gilding of palm branches and flower garlands. In the centre, a bird sits in a tree.

From the collection of the first Duke of Abercorn.

Factory marks in blue enclosing the date letter P for 1768, painter’s mark cp for Antoine-Joseph Chappuis. The birds are named in black on the reserve of each plate: Coucou vert de Cayenne and Manaquin à Gorge jeaune.
