A Rare and Fine Pair of Mounted Sèvres Porcelain Vases, circa 1765
These dark blue (bleu nouveau) ground ‘vases à monter’ were designed to be fitted into lavish gilt-bronze mounts forming decorative vases such as these or candelabra. The gilt-bronze mounts of these vases are of exceptional quality and an identical pair with green-ground porcelain, is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
