A Sèvres Biscuit Porcelain Figure of La Baigneuse, 1766-73

A Bathing Lady designed by the sculptor Falconnet in 1763 for production in unglazed biscuit soft-paste porcelain.

Incised B for Bachelier, the head of the modelling studio at Sèvres when this stunning figure was made. It was designed by the sculptor Falconet as a marble in 1757 and by the following year he provided the Sèvres factory with a smaller model to be made in porcelain.
