A Sèvres Marrionnière, Cover & Stand, 1756-57

Bleu lapis ground, with polychrome birds painted by Louis-Denis Armand l’aîne.

Both tray and bowl marked with elaborate, interlaced L’s, date-letter D for 1756-57 and the painter’s mark of a crescent for Armand.

This is probably one of the pair of this decoration owned by Madame de Pompadour; the other example is now in the Musée du Louvre, Paris.
