A Sèvres Plate from the Rohan Service, 1772

This assiette à palmes is from the Prince de Rohan’s service decorated with a bleu céleste ground and with the distinctive monogram LPR in two tones of tooled gilding.

Factory marks of interlaced L‘s enclosing the date-letter for 1772;  painter’s mark F for Jean-Armand Fallot.
The Rohan service is one of the best-known to the public of the great Sèvres services of the eighteenth century. It was made for the Cardinal Prince de Rohan when he had become the French Ambassador to the Court of Austrian in Vienna.
