A Sèvres Porcelain Broth Bowl, Cover and Stand, 1791
This is a soft-paste porcelain écuelle ronde tournée of the 4th size on a plateau ovale also of the 4th size. The decoration of chiné pattern is inspired by one of the most complex of contemporary Lyons silk weaving whereby the loom appears to have slipped to give a shadowy effect to a regular pattern.
With the factory marks, date letters oo for 1791 and painter’s mark fx for Françoise-Philipine Decoins.
