This soft-paste porcelain assiette unie is painted with a yellow ground with a black frieze of scrolls and lines.  In the centre, a large bird in a landscape.

Factory marks in blue with the date-letter oo for 1791, painter’s mark PM for Pierre Massy.  Inscribed in blue “Tadorne”.

This plate comes from a dinner service decorated with exotic birds taken from engravings from the Comte du Buffon’s publication Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux.
