This vase à oreilles of the third size made in hard-paste porcelain is a rare royal portrait vases of this form. The subject here is the Prince de Piedmont, later the King of Sardinia.

The pair to this vase was known in the early 20th Century and was decorated with a portrait of the Princess of Piedmont. The pair were purchased from the Sèvres Manufactory in November 1778 by the Ambassador of the King of Sardinia
