This square tray – a plateau tiroir – has a trophy painted in the well, in natural colours. On the edge, the rim is gilded and painted with a garland of bleu camaieu (monochrome blue) flowers.
This tray has the factory marks enclosing the date letter G for 1760 and an anchor for the painter Charles Buteux who specialised in trophies such as this.
