With the factory mark, the date letters CC for 1780, painters mark cp for Antoine-Joseph Chappuis (active at Sèvres 1761-87);gilder’s mark LG for Etienne–Henry Le Guay l’aîné (active at Vincennes and Sèvres 1748-49, 1751-97).
This lavishly-decorated circular tureen, cover and stand (pot à oille et plateau) made in 1780 is from a service associated with the Comte d’Artois completed in 1782.It was not sold in 1782 but was actually purchased by Louis XVI and given to Prince Henry of Prussia in 1784.
