This plateau Hébert with early turquoise-blue (bleu céleste) ground colour comes from the hugely important Hillingdon Collection formed by Sir Charles Mills in the early 19th century. The Hillingdon Sèvres porcelain vases and many pieces of furniture with Sèvres porcelain plaques form the core of the Sèvres collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This piece remained in the collection of the last Lady Hillingdon until her death in 2003.
