This rare spy glass (mini telescope) has a Sèvres porcelain barrel with a gold mount and gilt-copper linings. There is a mark on the mount which indicates it was made in Paris before 1768.

Two other 18th century spy glasses are known; one in is in the Louvre Museum, Paris, the other in the Wrightsman Collection, New York.
