Four Hard-Paste Sevres Porcelain Figures of Fauns and Bacchantes, circa 1774-1780

These figures of Le Faune aux Cornes, Le Faune a la Flute, La Bacchante a l’Amphore and La Bacchante au Sistre were designed by Taraval in 1773 as part of a new group of sculptures for table centrepieces.

Louis XVI was the biggest buyer of these models, purchasing examples in 1774, 1775, 1777 and 1780. Few examples survive.
