Wine Glass Cooler – Monteith, 1797

Of hard-paste porcelain with crenellated edges for wine glasses to cool in iced water, upside-down. From a dinner service decorated with this very unusual pattern of rosettes and a simulated porphyry ground.

Marked Sèvres and by the painter Louis Gouffé, from a service described in the factory’s sales registers as Porphyre et rosettes étrusques’.

Note: An oval liquer decanter cooler (seau ovale), with a fixed central division from this service is also available.
