This shape was called a plateau Hébert at the factory, in honour of a Parisian dealer in works of art. It would have originally been sold with a matching tea pot, sugar bowl, milk jug and one or two cups and saucers. This example bears an unidentified mark of a flower painter active at this date.
From the celebrated Hillingdon Collection, formed in the late 19th century by Sir Charles Mills and his son the 1st Lord Hillingdon.
