In December 1783 the banker Jean-Joseph de Laborde purchased four more seaux à bouteilles, of which these are two, for his green ground service [Peters 83-9]. Laborde already had a green-ground service of 1761, part of which seems to have been a present from Louis XV, perhaps in recognition of his financial help at the time of the Seven Years War [Peters 61-2 and 61-6]. The other three seaux of this size from this service are in a private collection in Canada and one in a private collection in Washington DC.
