Literature
The sculptor Louis-Simon Boizot certainly provided the model for the Bust of King Louis XVI to the Sèvres porcelain manufactory and probably also for the Bust of Queen Marie-Antoinette. We know that Louis XVI had a pair of this model in his private appartments at Versailles set on giltwood bases such as those under these busts.
Similar Busts are in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and in the British Royal Collection.
Sold to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Texas, 2016
