This plateau du Roi of the second size in soft-paste porcelain is painted with a scene from a 1742 engraving called Le Pasteur Galant after an image by François Boucher. This piece has the factory marks, the date letter T for 1772 and the painter’s mark k for Charles-Nicholas Dodin.Dodin also painted the same scene on a porcelain table top now in The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, USA.
Purchased by The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2014, in memory of the late Ian Lowe.
