Literature
This gobelet Litron et soucoupe is of the second size and has a very bold pattern of neo-classical gilding over the blue (bleu nouveau) ground colour. The painted scenes are amusing, showing a child’s toy on the saucer of a wooden doll neatly bandaged which has inspired the mischievous child depicted on the saucer as she tries to bandage the family pet who is becoming highly frustrated.
We know the original purchaser of this piece in the 1780s.
