Literature

The service from which these trays derive was bought by Louis XV in December 1763 and was documented in use at the then newly-built Petit Trianon in the park of the Château of Versailles.

These are the only two known pieces of this shape to survive from the service. The museum of the Chateau of Versailles has been collecting pieces of the service since it’s history was first identified in about 1990.
