Literature
A Sèvres Cup & Saucer (gobelet Litron & soucoupe) with bleu nouveau ground, enamels imitating jewels on stamped gold foils and painted with cameo profiles of American ‘Founding Father’ Benjamin Franklin, King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette of France and King Frederick the Great and Queen Elizabeth Christine of Prussia.
This cup and saucer would have cost an exceptional amount when it was made and clearly commemorates the signing on 9th July 1785 with the assistance of France.
