Literature
This object was not known and is not mentioned in the list of sales of cuvettes Courteille in the Wallace Collection catalogue (vo.1, p. 53, note 12). This style of decoration was made popular by the service given by the minister of foreign affairs in 1760 to Karl Theodor, Elector Palatine, who had remained on the French side during the Seven Years War.
There were no vases of matching decoration supplied with the service. Further mosaïque-decorated services, with flower painting, were sold in 1761 and 1762.
