In her book on Madame de Pompadour’s collecting of Vincennes and Sèvres porcelain, Rosalind Savill illustrates this dish and notes that it is surely part of the écuelle purchased on 3rd December 1760 by the then nine-year old Duc de Bourgogne (1751-1761) who succumbed to illness in March 1761.
The matching écuelle and cover was seen on the art market about 20 years ago.
