The images for the drawings of the two young girls on each side of the vase are taken from works by the Romantic French painter Fragonard – The Swing and The Souvenir where the face of the girl is altered slightly to reflect the profile of my own daughter Polly who is of a similar age. The images of the kangaroos are taken from George Perry’s ‘Arcana’ and Charles-Alexander Lesueur’s ‘Voyages of Discovery to the Southern Lands.
