Iznik Figure, 2005

Porcelain with gold lustre

This figure has been embellished with hand painted Iznik style flowers in gold lustre. Claire Curneen’s use of flower imagery can be seen as a metaphor for illustrating the fragility and restricted terms of human life

Here they caress around the figure adding to the sensuous nature of the dripping glaze and richness of the gold lustre

Height 23 1/2" (60cm)
