Porcelain with gold lustre

The butterfly is a symbol for the soul. In this piece butterflies emerge from the figure, as if they have been exhaled. Psyche references the delicate qualities of decorated porcelain and repositions this in a figurative context. Gold is a recurring visual motif that symbolises interior value and here we see flashes of gold float and flicker across the face, bringing the whole form to life.
