Hitomi Hosono and Junko Mori selected to participate in an exhibition in Toyama, Japan.
Hitomi Hosono and Junko Mori are delighted to have been chosen to show works in the ‘Worlds Kogei 100’ exhibition. There is a long tradition of KOGEI (which translates as ‘artisan crafts’) in Toyama and this exhibition seeks to explore the progression and movement of KOGEI around the world, its meaning and its future.
Designer Tord Boontje, who was responsible for selecting the UK-based artists in the exhibition, was looking for artists who show excellence in the execution of their work, understand the tradition of their medium and who have developed a personal and creative direction for their work. In addition to the exhibition, there is also a conference to discuss the future of KOGEI and an awards ceremony to celebrate young craftspeople.
The exhibition runs from 16 November 2017 until 8 January 2018.
