Temple Newsam acquires Junko Mori’s Silver Poetry; Spring Fever Ring, 2014
Silver Poetry; Spring Fever Ring is a tour de force of contemporary silversmithing techniques. Artist Junko Mori has combined thirty-one varieties of hand-forged elements in this beautiful sculptural ring; referencing the number of syllables in a Tanka (an extended version of the traditional Japanese Haiku poem).
Temple Newsam is an impressive Jacobean Country House just outside of Leeds. Famed for its collections of historic furniture, wallpapers and English paintings – this contemporary masterpiece forms and important part of their superb silver collection. At nearly 9kg, it is the largest piece of silver by Junko Mori in any museum in the world.
