Literature

A Pair of French 18th Century Soft-Paste Sèvres Porcelain Covered Sugar Bowls (sucriers de M. Le Premier), 1771. Factory marks in blue with the date-letter S for 1771, painter's mark y for Edme-François Bouillat (active at Sèvres 1758-1810) or his wife (active at Sèvres 1776-98).

Decorated with bleu Fallot incrusté ground and sprigs of flowers in natural colours. A service of this pattern was sold in 1771 by the Sèvres porcelain factory to the Parisian dealer Simon Poirier and a large group of these are in the collection of the late Marjorie Merriweather Post at Hillwood House, Washington DC.
