This pair of seaux à liqueur rond are from a service bought in 1784 and 1785 by the Duke of Dorset, British Ambassador to France. There were eight of this size in the service made in 1785 to add to the original set made in the previous year. Much of the service is at Knole, Kent.
These were painted by Pierre Massy and gilded by Girard and Vandé.
