From 1753 to 1755 the Vincennes porcelain manufactory delivered the first great porcelain dinner service with a ground colour to Louis XV for his use at Versailles. The service was lavish in decoration, included large quantities of pieces many of which were of new large sizes.
This salad bowl was made for Queen Marie-Antoinette's use at the Petit Trianon and was delivered to her in 1784.
