Adrian Sassoon at the London House of Modernity
14 Cavendish Square, W1G 9NU
Adrian Sassoon and Modernity are delighted to announce their first joint exhibition at 14 Cavendish Square, Mayfair, opening during London’s annual art and design week. The absence of PAD and Frieze this year has prompted these two leading international dealers to present a compelling and innovative curated display, staging their distinct signature collections side by side.
Building on mutual respect and admiration for each other, Stockholm-based Modernity Gallery Directors Andrew Duncanson and Isaac Pineus have invited London-based art dealer Adrian Sassoon to co-curate an exhibition in their London showroom, which was established earlier in the year. Both top authorities in their respective areas of expertise, Adrian Sassoon is the UK’s foremost gallery for international, contemporary works of decorative art and Modernity is the leading specialist in 20th century Nordic design globally.
Striking contemporary ceramics, glass and metalwork from Adrian Sassoon’s impressive stable of international artists are set in dialogue with Modernity’s elegant design classics from legendary Nordic makers and designers, all staged within the extraordinary interior of a Palladian mansion on Cavendish Square. The dilapidated grandeur of 14 Cavendish Square provides a dramatic backdrop to the curation, with its stripped walls and exposed brickwork and rafters juxtaposed with graceful period details such as original plaster mouldings.
A catalogue will be available online from the 5th of October and it is possible to book a visit here.
