A Pair of Soft-Paste Sèvres Porcelain Wine Decanter Coolers, 1759

These are a fairly rare shape of wine decanter coolers (seau à bouteille) of large size with a broad base.  Examples of this shape with certain ground colours are known from services supplied by the Sèvres factory to Louis XV.  With a plain white pair such as these, their original provenance cannot be determined, however this shape is rare.

These have the date letter F for 1759 and the painter’s marks for D. Joffroy and C.-J. Cardin.
