A Sèvres Plate from the Vandernyver Service, 1792

This soft-paste Sèvres porcelain plate (assiette) has interlaced Ls with date-letter pp for 1792, painter’s mark for Guillaume Noël (active 1755-1807)

From a dinner service sold to the Dutch banker Jean-Baptiste Vandernyver on 29th November 1792.  The service contained 92 plates and much of it was sold again at Christie’s in London in 1897.  There are pieces from this service in the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg.
