A Soft-Paste Sèvres Porcelain Wine Cooler, 1773

This shape of seau à bouteille was made in several sizes at the Sèvres factory in the 18th century – this is one of the larger sizes and was intended for cooling wine decanters in iced water.

With the date letter U for 1773 and the painter’s mark for Commelin and the gilder’s mark for Beaudoin.
