This is a very distinguished Sèvres gobelet Couvert et soucoupe of 1763.  Its’ decoration of frizes riches is by the prime painter of this style, Charles-Louis Méreaud.

From the early 19th century this covered cup and saucer was in the outstanding collection formed by Sir Charles Mills or his son the 1st Lord Hillingdon.
