A Sèvres Porcelain Ewer and Basin with silver-gilt mounts, 1770
This pot à eau ordinaire and jatte ovale are decorated with colourful display of roundels with roses, leaf trails and ribbons. The contemporary silver-gilt mount is decorated with a flowerhead design. Considering how unusual this scheme of decoration is, it is fascinating that we also have a covered bowl of the same pattern by the same painter currently in our stock.
Factory marks in blue enclosing the date-letter R for 1770; painter’s mark of a line with a dot at one end for Louis-Jean Thévenet.
