A Sèvres Porcelain Ewer and Basin with silver-gilt mounts, 1770
This pot à eau ordinaire and jatte ovale are decorated with colourful display of roundels with roses, leaf trails and ribbons. Considering how unusual this scheme of decoration is, it is fascinating that we also have had a covered bowl of the same pattern by the same painter, now in a collection in the USA.
Factory marks in blue enclosing the date-letter R for 1770; painter’s mark.
